as you can see from the title, this is my wrap up for April and for May, because I was in a huge reading slump in April and only managed to finish 1 book, and I didn’t think a wrap up with only 1 book to talk about would be interesting to read, so I’m combining 2 months. The reading slump happened because I started writing my exams in April, but I had 2 weeks of in May during which I read as much as possible. I started school the other day again and I have 6 exams left, so June will probably be a slow month for me again, but let’s first talk about the books I read in the past 2 months.
Tales from Shadowhunter Academy (#5-10) by Cassandra Clare – 4/5 Stars
After reading the first 4 novellas in this bind-up in March, I read the rest in April, and really enjoyed most of them. I made a post about why you should read these stories, especially before Lady Midnight.
Locke & Key, Vol. 3: Crown of Shadows by Joe Hill – 4/5 Stars
I can’t talk too much about this volume since it will spoil the previous ones, but this is a paranormal graphic novel series and it’s very good so far.
The Battle of the Labyrinth (Percy Jackson and the Olympians #4) by Rick Riordan – 5/5 Stars
I’ve been reading this series for I believe almost 4 years now, and I can’t believe I’m close to the end. Everything about these books is fantastic and I’m excited to read the last one, The Last Olympian, soon!
Woyzeck by Georg Büchner – 2/5 Stars
Read this for my German class and honestly didn’t like it at all. I didn’t understand the purpose of this book and the writing was bad and weird.
Winter Soldier, Vol. 1: The Longest Winter by Ed Brubaker – 3/5 Stars
I really liked some parts of this volume, but some were really confusing and all over the place. I’m gonna continue with this series at some point though, and hope it will get better. Love Bucky and Nat fighting together!
The Raven Boys (The Raven Cycle #1) by Maggie Stiefvater – 5/5 Stars
I wrote a review for this book, but to sum it up: I loved it. So very much. It jumped straight to my all time favorites list and I can’t get enough of this series. READ IT.
Simon vs. the Homo Sapiens Agenda by Becky Albertalli – 4.5/5 Stars
For this one I also have a review up, and this was another book I really liked. It’s a great and light contemporary, so if you’re looking for a book like that, pick this one up. I’m definitely going to re-read this sometime in the future.
The Dream Thieves (The Raven Cycle #2) by Maggie Stiefvater – 5/5 Stars
As I said earlier, I can’t get enough of this series, so immediately after finishing The Raven Boys, I went ahead and bought book 2. Again, I loved this one too, and I’m glad this book focused more on characters that weren’t in the spotlight in book 1. I think I liked the first installment in this series a little better, but this was a fantastic book too, and I need Blue Lily, Lily Blue now.
So, this is my wrap-up for the months of April and May! Which books did you read? Which were your favorite? Leave me a comment letting me know.
