Reading Wrap-Up | January 2016

Hello everyone,

here’s my wrap-up of the books I read in January. I managed to read/finish 7 books, which I’m very happy about! I’m currently 3 books ahead of my Goodreads challenge of 50 books.

Cress (The Lunar Chronicles #3) by Marissa Meyer – 5/5 Stars

This book is so far my favorite installment in The Lunar Chronicles, and I just keep falling in love with this series and Marissa Meyer’s writing more and more.

Fairest (The Lunar Chronicles #3.5) by Marissa Meyer – 4/5 Stars

I definitely recommend reading this after Cress and before Winter to get an inside on why Levana turned out to be this crazy. Other than that, it did not add anything to the main plot of TLC.

The Martian by Andy Weir – 5/5 Stars

Even though I started this novel in October and put it down half-way through for a reason that’s unknown to me, I really enjoyed the whole thing, especially the main character!

Never Never: Part Three (ebook) – 3/5 Stars

I liked the writing and the plot, just like in the previous two parts of this book, but the reveal of the mystery fall flat for me, hence the 3 stars.

Aristotle and Dante discover the Secrets of the Universe by Benjamin Alire Sáenz – 5/5 Stars

I loved this book and you can read my whole review for it here.

Faust (Part 1) by Johann Wolfgang von Goethe – 3/5 Stars

Read this for school. Overall, I did like the plot, except for the misogyny a.k.a. the way the main female character was portrayed, but that’s not only Goethe’s fault, it’s the way women were seen in the 18th century (sadly).
The book is written in an old and very hard to understand German, which took away from the overall enjoyment of the reading experience.

Saga, Vol. 1 by Brian K. Vaughan & Fiona Staples  4/5 Stars

I really liked the fantasy world that we’re introduced here and I can’t wait to explore it more in the next volumes. I did get a little confused by all the different species that appear, but I’m sure I’m gonna get used to them.

What did you read in the month of January? Let me know in the comments, I would love to hear it!
